who we are

Over a decade ago, we started with the humble goal of changing the world for the better. By marrying capital with purpose, we strive to build a better society that nurtures and grows. We, as a crew, have grown and evolved through multiple investing vehicles across different stages of investing.

Lightrock India was formed in September 2019 as the India-focused entity of Lightrock. Aspada, with the goal to move towards growth investing partnered with the LGT group to build Lightrock. Lightrock was formed in 2018 as a vehicle by the LGT group in an effort to launch a global impact investing platform.

Lightrock India manages investments of SONG, LGT Impact, Aspada and Lightrock.

Pioneering first

Formed as one of the first impact funds by Soros, Omidyar Network and Google, SONG was a pioneering effort to expand the scope of impact investing beyond microfinance and renewables to businesses in key sectors of the economy. LGT Impact began investing in India at the same time.

2013

Leading early-stage

Created as a permanent capital vehicle solely backed by SEDF to invest in businesses that solve problems faced by middle income India along themes of access, Aspada made early investments in several pioneers and industry leaders in supply chains and financial services.

2018

Largest growth stage

Transitioning to growth stage investing, Aspada partnered with LGT group to form Lightrock India - driven largely by the team's strong preference to work alongside entrepreneurs to build large businesses addressing systemic problems in key sectors of the economy.
